Vision
The Kidmia Foundation is a non-governmental organization dedicated to working with families, local churches, and communities to enable orphaned and vulnerable children in rural Ethiopia to reach their fullest and highest potential by tackling the root causes of poverty and vulnerability.
Our vision is to see orphaned and vulnerable children released from physical, economic, and spiritual poverty, reach their highest and fullest potential, be reunited or placed with a gospel-loving Ethiopian family, become constructive and productive citizens of their country, and enjoy life in all its fullness. Kidmia fulfills this vision through the provision of comprehensive and holistic care and support that brings God-honoring, lasting, and holistic change to the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are motivated by God’s love to serve all children regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender.
We currently care for 25 children in our Child Transition Center in Gunchire, Ethiopia and an additional 35 children in the surrounding community. We are led by a dedicated Ethiopian staff in country and supported by a volunteer board in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in the United States.
Kidmia is an answer to the call of Christ to care for orphaned and vulnerable children. The book of James tells us that religion that is pure and faultless before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. Kidmia’s ministry is all about “faith in action.” We need to faithfully and joyfully answer the call that God has given his children – a call to care for the orphan.
May God richly bless our efforts to serve the fatherless,
Aschalew Abebe, Kidmia Ethiopia Director
